The newly created Lions District 404B5 Nigeria commenced its inaugural service year in spectacular fashion with a three-day Strategic Retreat, Inaugural Annual Leadership Training, and First Cabinet Meeting held from Thursday, July 16 to Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The landmark gathering brought together district officers, past district governors, cabinet members, club leaders, and Lions from across the district to chart a clear course for the future. The retreat provided an opportunity for strategic planning, collaboration, and alignment with the district’s vision, while the leadership training equipped current and emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills required to deliver impactful service throughout the year.
The inaugural Annual Leadership Training featured an impressive lineup of seasoned facilitators and Lion leaders who shared valuable insights on leadership, membership growth, governance, financial management, communication, and effective service delivery. Participants described the sessions as practical, inspiring, and transformative, laying a solid foundation for excellence in the district’s maiden service year.
The activities culminated in the First Cabinet Meeting presided over by the District Governor, Lion Phina Origho PMJF NLCF. During the meeting, the District Governor presented the proposed budget for the 2026–2027 service year, outlining strategic priorities and financial plans designed to drive sustainable growth, strengthen clubs, and expand humanitarian service across the district.
In recognition of their commitment and financial responsibility, clubs that had fulfilled their local dues obligations were specially acknowledged and commended by the District Governor. The recognition served as an encouragement to other clubs to remain committed to meeting their obligations promptly in support of the district’s vision.
One of the major highlights of the cabinet meeting was the official welcome of the Ikeja Model Virtual Lions Club, a Mega Club, into the newly formed District 404B5. Members of the club received a warm ovation as they were formally introduced and welcomed into the district family, marking another significant milestone in the district’s membership growth and expansion.
The successful three-day event reflected the unity, enthusiasm, and determination of Lions across District 404B5 as they embraced the opportunities of a new beginning. With strategic direction firmly established, empowered leaders, and a shared commitment to humanitarian service, the district has set the stage for an impactful inaugural year.
As Lions departed Ekiti with renewed passion and purpose, one message resonated throughout the gathering: District 404B5 is ready to lead, ready to serve, and ready to demonstrate to the world the true meaning of its service theme – “Behold the Power of Service”.
