On 29th May 2026, a remarkable milestone was achieved in Olajumoke/Osolo community of the Akute axis in Ogun State, as Ikeja Platinum Lions Club officially commissioned a newly constructed motorized well with electric pump and unveiled the renovated Olajumoke Primary Healthcare Centre.

The impactful project, executed under the leadership of Club President Lion Olubimpe Gbaiye as the Legacy Project for the 2025–2026 Lions Service Year, stands as a strong testament to Lions’ unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and sustainable community development.

The commissioning ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including community leaders, the Supervisor for Health of Ifo Local Government Area, staff of Olajumoke PHC, the District Governor of District 404B2 Nigeria Lion Oluwakemi Eribake, as well as esteemed Lion leaders and members who gathered to celebrate this significant achievement.

Access to clean water and quality healthcare remain two of the most fundamental needs of any thriving community. Through the provision of a motorized well and the renovation of the primary health centre, Ikeja Platinum Lions Club has not only improved healthcare service delivery but has also significantly enhanced hygiene standards, disease prevention capacity, and overall well-being of the underserved population in the community.

The availability of clean, reliable water helps reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery, while also supporting medical hygiene practices within the health facility. The upgraded primary healthcare centre strengthens maternal and child health services, improves emergency response capacity, and ensures that residents no longer need to travel long distances for basic medical care.

Beyond infrastructure, this project restores dignity, hope, and confidence in public health systems for rural dwellers. It also reduces the burden on families who previously faced avoidable health risks due to lack of clean water and inadequate medical facilities.

This initiative reflects the vision, focus, and commitment of Lion Olubimpe Gbaiye and the dedicated members of Ikeja Platinum Lions Club, who continue to demonstrate that true leadership is measured not by position, but by service to humanity.

As Lions, we remain committed to touching lives, restoring hope, and creating sustainable impact that uplifts communities and strengthens the foundation for healthier, more resilient societies.
